The Tannheimer Tal is one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Alps, reachable from Germany without traffic jams via the A7 (exit Oy-Mittelberg). In 2019 the German Wandermagazin named the valley Austria's most beautiful hiking region. Our house lies on a sunny hillside above Nesselwängle, at the entrance to the valley, and with the guest card you use the valley bus and mountain railways free of charge.

The hiking trails begin at the doorstep, the chairlift to the Krinnenalpe is in the village, 31 managed huts and alpine pastures wait above, five mountain railways help with the ascent. Runners and Nordic walkers find 186 kilometres on 26 routes.
Cyclists choose between 40 kilometres of paved cycle paths, 150 kilometres of mountain-bike routes and road-bike loops from 50 to 216 kilometres.
Add two bathing lakes, two outdoor pools, seven fishing waters, via ferratas in every grade and paragliding for the adrenaline day. For children there is the Tanni children's club, for the leisurely a horse-drawn carriage.
Not far away are the castles of fairy tale king Ludwig II, "Linderhof", Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

In winter the Tannheimer Tal ranks among Austria's best winter-sports regions: over 50 kilometres of slopes served by 26 railways and lifts, 140 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails with the loipe quality seal, seven toboggan runs, almost 50 kilometres of cleared winter walking paths, plus ice-stock rinks and an ice-climbing tower. And those who like it quiet go winter walking until their cheeks glow.
